A 62-acre design-build campus in Shafter for Baker Hughes, consolidating several smaller operations into thirteen structures with 42 acres of concrete paving, a rail spur, 9,000 SF of testing laboratories and 66,000 SF of offices.
The build
Wallace & Smith extended three-quarters of a mile of infrastructure and roads to develop the site, then built thirteen separate structures of concrete tilt-up, cast-in-place and pre-engineered steel, plus steel silos for frac sand and bulk cement blending. The campus includes an acid plant, concrete blend plant, automatic truck wash, fuel station, sand plant, vehicle maintenance facility, welding building, and state-of-the-art testing laboratories. A 350KW Bloom Energy solid-oxide fuel cell was installed as an alternative energy source.
