Wallace & Smith was founded in Bakersfield in 1950 by Henry Wallace and Earl Smith, and it has never stopped being a builders' company: the second generation carried it forward with many of the original employees, and today the firm is employee-owned through an ESOP.

Every person on your project holds a stake in how it turns out. That is the whole quality program, and it has worked for seventy-six years.
