Flight Research is 46,288SF, consisting of two metal buildings joined at one wall. Bldg A houses numerous aircraft, including a DC-3. It is equipped with an insulated, translucent-panel fabric door with a clear-span opened dimension of 148′ wide by 25′ tall. Thirty skylights and the light-transmitting hangar door allow work on the aircraft during normal daylight operations without using electric lighting. The wood-framed build-out of the Building B shell is structurally independent and includes two floors of administrative offices, a workout facility, instructional classrooms with theater seating and projection equipment, a small library, conference rooms, and meeting rooms. The structure as a whole is built to withstand 100mph wind gusts.
