Baker Hughes, one of the world’s largest oilfield services companies, operating in over 90 countries, providing the oil & gas industry with products and services for drilling, formation evaluation, completion, production, and reservoir consulting, contracted with Wallace & Smith to design and build their 62 acre Oil Field Operations Joint Facility in Shafter, CA. W&S extended ¾ mile of infrastructure and roads to develop the facility. The facility combines several of its smaller facilities into one sizeable consolidated operation. The new joint facility consists of 13 separate structures built of concrete tilt-up, cast-in-place, pre-engineered steel buildings, and steel silo structures for both frac sand and bulk cement blending along with a rail spur, 42 acres of concrete paving, an Acid Plant, Concrete Blend Plant, automatic Truck Wash, Fuel Station, Sand Plant, Vehicle Maintenance Facility, RA Source Storage Facility, Welding Building, Gun Load Bunker, 9,000 Sf of state of the art testing laboratories and 66,000 square feet of offices. A 350KW Bloom Energy Solid Oxide Fuel Cell was installed as an alternative energy source.
